Winter Vaccines Virtual Helper
The ask
The NHS approached us for help with an urgent public health need: to get the UK vaccinated for Covid-19 and the Flu. We teamed up with Google Creative Works and the U.K. NHS Office of Health Improvement & Disparities to build a Winter Vaccine Virtual Helper. Our goal was to increase vaccination uptake by inspiring urgency and countering misinformation.
Chat with a friendly expert
We launched a chatbot to explain the benefits of getting the COVID-19 booster and flu vaccines and how to make an appointment. We framed vax facts as common sense and directed eligible users to book an appointment. With eligibility guidelines changing daily, we had to make the script flexible and easy to update live. To provide actionable information, while preserving a conversational tone, we applied bullet points and plain speech. The NHS is highly popular in the UK. People trust the NHS as a reliable source for medical information.
